Yepzon and Securitas to launch cutting-edge B2B security solutions

Yepzon Enterprises
BULLETIN June 21, 2018
Release Date: June 21, 2018

The Finnish location technology service provider Yepzon and the leading security company Securitas have agreed on extended collaboration to create B2B security service solutions. After successful municipal pilot projects in Finland, the collaboration is extending also to corporate personnel security abroad.

Until now, Securitas and Yepzon have piloted a joint security service solution in the municipal sector, where Yepzon™ Freedom, which combines an alarm with location functions, has been integrated into Securitas’s transmitter system. When the user presses a button on the device, an alert is sent in a matter of seconds to Securitas’s alarm center, which quickly locates the person in need of help. The solution is currently used in the municipal sector by hundreds of social workers and mobile health care workers.

Growing collaboration

The companies have agreed to expand their collaboration, thanks to the success of the integration and the pilot projects. The ever stronger collaboration between Yepzon and Securitas meets the increasing needs of municipalities and companies to secure their personnel in high-risk environments. This applies specifically to persons who work alone with certain customer groups or work alone in isolated locations, such as forest sites, as well as key company employees who work or travel a lot. Indeed, safeguarding corporate leaders and personnel is a rising industry trend.

“We were the first to introduce to the market a new kind of security device, which can also locate indoors. Operators like Securitas help us to create significant added value, because companies get access to a security solution, which enables them to easily and efficiently benefit from the state-of-the-art technologies of Yepzon and the security services of Securitas. It’s been nice to see that the executives of companies have realized the importance of developing personnel security,” says Otto Linna, the founder of Yepzon Enterprises.

Securitas’s global security organization also opens doors for Yepzon to security markets in other countries as Securitas Finland works in close cooperation with other countries. Securitas and Yepzon’s security solution can be quickly scaled globally because the systems are similar across the board.

“Securitas works closely together with global technology manufacturers so that we can provide our customers with the perfect overall solutions tailored to their needs. Yepzon is a reliable Finnish partner whose high-quality location and sensor technologies bring added value to our services to the benefit of our customers,” explains Tommi Ilonen, Business Area Manager, Securitas Finland.

Yepzon and Valmet to bring a modern industrial internet solution to the oil and gas industry

Yepzon Enterprises
BULLETIN June 13, 2018
Release Date: June 13, 2018

The location technology provider Yepzon Enterprises and the leading global provider of technologies and services for the pulp, paper, and energy industry, Valmet, have joined forces to develop a state-of-the-art logistics service and a sensor device to cater for the needs of the oil and gas industry. The cooperation will result in a superb combination of a terminal device developed by Yepzon and Valmet combined with Valmet’s DNA software.

The logistics service will provide the oil and gas industry with a new standard of monitoring. The final product will be an ATEX certified industrial internet solution suitable for explosive surroundings that provides the customer with real-time location information and other sensor data (such as collision, temperature, air humidity) at all times. The forecasting capacity enabled by the service brings enormous added value to the logistics design of the customer. In addition to the cost benefits, the service will improve the security and safety of transportation.

Utilizing the cutting-edge technologies of Yepzon and Valmet, the service integrates the data collected from different processes into GPS tracking and other information obtained from the device. The system creates an easily trackable ID for each gas, oil, and chemical container, which enables the real-time tracking of the container’s location and conditions. Together with Valmet’s DNA Integrated Operations solution, the device enables, e.g., terminal loading operations without the use of expensive local systems.

The development of the service is based on the successful pilot executed by the two parties. The pilot demonstrated that the need for development of location solutions is evident as the industry has so far relied on traditional technologies such as RFID solutions.

“There are currently over 17 million shipping containers in the world and many of them carry a risk of explosion based on their contents or location. In the long run, the increased safety and decreased need for infrastructure provided by the solution developed by Yepzon and Valmet presents significant added value in the oil and gas industry,” says Jani Hautaluoma, Director, Process Automation, Valmet.

The device is built on LTE IoT technology pioneered by Qualcomm, known for inventing of breakthrough technologies. LTE IoT and its continued evolution toward 5G are designed to address the needs and use cases of the massive IoT – ranging from consumer devices such as kid and pet trackers, to industrial sensors operating in challenging environments. The solution from Yepzon and Valmet uses the Qualcomm® MDM9206 modem.

“We are pleased that Yepzon and Valmet have selected the Qualcomm MDM9206 LTE IoT modem, a solution designed to facilitate the development of cost-effective, low-power IoT devices designed for multi-year battery life and greater coverage compared to traditional LTE,” says Jeffery Torrance, vice president, business development, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “We look forward to continuing to support Yepzon in building innovative solutions such as this industrial sensor.”

Yepzon’s vast experience on location services and industrial solutions combined with Valmet’s software optimized for the oil and gas sector create a perfect opportunity to elevate the service to a new level.

“During the last year, the industry has taken a huge leap toward digitalization and that has affected us strongly. The project developed together with Valmet creates a good basis for widening the range of Yepzon’s services even further. Oil and gas is a very demanding market. We will be able to develop solutions suitable for other industries based on this project,” says Otto Linna, the founder of Yepzon Enterprises.

Finnish Yepzon Signs LOI for Acquisition in the US, Launches Share Issue on Invesdor

Yepzon Oy
BULLETIN 19.2.2018
Release Date: May 17, 2018

The location technology provider Yepzon Oy is strengthening its position on the US location service market. Yepzon’s first M&A is to merge the consumer business of PocketFinder, a licensing partner of Yepzon since 2016, into Yepzon’s US affiliate, Yepzon Inc.

The Letter of Intent for the acquisition was signed on April 3, 2018. Should the M&A be realized, the company behind PocketFinder, Location Based Technologies (LBAS), listed in the US, will become an owner in Yepzon Inc.

Merger to Increase Yepzon’s Market Share and Revenue

PocketFinder is one of the best-known location brands on the US consumer sector. The tentatively agreed acquisition would enable Yepzon to grow its market share and revenue. Consumer business in the US involves higher prices and better profits than on other markets.

Yepzon’s US arm would grow faster as a result of the M&A compared to organic growth. The aim is to turn Yepzon’s US arm, Yepzon Inc, into a robust stand-alone operator that can, if need be, raise capital directly on the US capital market.

“The licensing partnership has proven that there is significant growth potential on the US market,” says Otto Linna, the founder of Yepzon Enterprises. “As a technology leader, it is a natural step for us to now focus our consumer business to the world’s no. 1 target market in this field. By partnering up with PocketFinder, we can use our strong brands to increase our lead.”

“The IoT tracking world remains highly fragmented. We see this as an opportune time to bring the “best of the best” together with the desire to leverage and build upon each partner’s strengths, knowledge and abilities,” says Dave Morse, CEO, LBAS.

Strong Start for Crowdfunding Campaign

Today, Yepzon launched a public share issue on the crowdfunding platform Invesdor. Yepzon will raise a maximum of €1.2M through crowdfunding. By the launch date of the public issue, more than €180.000 was subscribed toward this goal. The advance subscriptions already cover 41% of the approximately half-million euro minimum target set by Yepzon.

This equity financing round is part of a wider €2.2M financing package, with debt instruments worth €1.0M raised from Nordea Bank. Via Nordea Bank’s additional financing package, the investors get major leverage for their equity investment.

“Our previous crowdfunding round was a success, enabling us to reach our maximum target in a record time. We received a lot of feedback from investors who were too late to join in at that stage,” says Linna. “Yepzon’s strength lies in the shareholders. Now, we want to give a new opportunity to people who share our passion.”
